The brief for our private-residential project in Port Melbourne called for upgrade of an existing, backyard courtyard with alleyway driveway access, into a new, modern, mixed-used space that could accommodate a car when needed.

 

The design built upon the existing structure to minimise construction costs; providing new surface treatments and planting. A formal seating/dining area with seating walls off the back deck step up to a synthetic turf zone over the existing slab. This provides an additional terraced space that can also act as a car space. A arbor structure was included to help screen the garage door and car space with flowering climbers and espalier fruit trees providing the screening.

dsb helped The Client find local contractors to price the project and construction is set to begin in the coming months.
