REDDALL RESERVE FORESHORE
Shellharbour City Council consultants prepared a Master Plan for the Reddall Reserve Foreshore to help create a vibrant, attractive, accessible edge to the Lake Illawarra Foreshore.
dsb Landscape Architects have, in conjunction with the relevant sections of the Master Plan document, provided the following deliverables to the satisfaction of the project brief:
New foreshore/promenade to consist of sections of either an engineered rock revetment or foreshore seated edge (or functionally similar) as proposed in the Reddall Reserve Master Plan.
Foreshore edge seating not to be located within a suitable distance from existing stormwater outlets.
Foreshore edge seating should include standard steps at appropriate intervals for the community to access both the lower step of the seated edge and the lake edge.
Specification of street furniture design and identification of install locations
Identification of public art sites and specification of artwork specifications/objectives
Quantity surveyor report for cost estimate of implementation master plan
The final design considered the establishment of a public seating areas, terraced seating spaces & integration of accessible ramps and stairs for equal access for all down to the foreshore.
Additionally, dsb reviewed the existing site conditions and proposed supplementary planting & level turf seating areas along the proposed foreshore redevelopment.
Street furniture is implemented with the design consisting of fixed furniture (benches, shelters, tables etc.) Neutral in colour and adopt a simple and consistent palette & aesthetic. The inclusion of public art is at the specifications/comments provided by Council’s Arts & Cultural Development Officer.
