Port Melbourne Residence - Courtyard Garden Design
  • What kind of design do you do?
Our Team can design a landscape concept to suit your brief and budget. This could include landscape features such as paved areas, gardens and planting selections, lawns, retaining walls, entertainng areas, pools, fire pits, BBQ areas, and sculptural elements just to name a few. With our designs we include a species and materials palette of suggested plants and products for you to consider. We specialise in high-end, single dwelling residential gardens however our design Team are capable of working to any project size or requirements, from a small courtyard to an entire property!
  • I'm interested in discussing my project, what's the first step?"
One of our team members can discuss your project via an initial email and follow up phone call. If you are able to provide photos or site plans that help us fully understand the site, as well as a detailed brief we can prepare a fee proposal for you without an on site consultation. If you would prefer to have an on-site consultation then one of our team members will meet you on site to discuss your brief, ideas and requirements in order to create your perfect garden. A consultation will usually take between 0.5-1.5 hours depending on the size of the site. This visit allows us to meet you face-to-face, walk the site with you, and discuss your project and ideas at length. The fee for the consultation is $330 (incl. GST) for properties within 40 minutes of our local office (Southbank, VIC or Deakin, ACT). After the consultation we will prepare a fee proposal for your consideration. The proposal will outline the scope of services identified in our consultation, and a break-down of the associated costs. If you decide to engage dsb Landscape Architects then your initial consultation fee will be credited as part of the breakdown of fees in our proposal.
  • Can you do designs if my property is located outside of Melbourne and Canberra?
We certainly can! Depending on the project size and requirements we can include travel as part of our fee proposal for your project. Alternatively, we can provide our services via online consultations and presentations!
  • Do I have to wait for my new property to finish construction before I get a design?
No, the earlier dsb are engaged the better! Our aim is to provide a landscape that not only suits your needs and budget, but also ties in seamlessly with the site architecture. We find coordination and collaboration with yourself, the project architect, and builder throughout the project build is the best way to achieve the maximum result!
  • I've accepted dsb's fee proposal, what's next?"
Upon acceptance of the design fee proposal, we will conduct a full site analysis. This will help us understand the site requirements, take any required measurements and photographs to help us produce our concept drawings. Once the design concept is completed we will meet with you to present the concept(s) and get feedback to inform the final design.
  • How long does it take to produce the concept designs?
This depends on the size and complexity of the site. Generally, after acceptance of the fee proposal the Concept Phase is usually between 4-6 weeks. If your project requires Council approval landscape plans (Development Application / Town Planning) then this may take more time depending on Council processes. We can discuss this in more detail at the initial consultation.
  • How much does it cost?
This is entirely dependent on the size of the project, complexity and scope of services. The initial consultation will allow us to determine the scope of services required for your project and allow us to give you a general idea of costs before preparing the formal fee proposal.
